With all the gorgeous weather we've been having this past week, the unexpected pour down on Saturday left me in a fashion dilemma. It was still warm but miserable. Here's a little outfit I put together that day, photos courtesy of my lovely boyfriend! I went for a swing dress layered over a crop tee with a simple old leather jacket and boots, easy peasy.

Crop T-shirt - Topshop £8
Statement necklace - Primark £12
Shoes - Ebay £20

OOTD - Leather and Jeans, Garage Glamorous

Hello my little muffins!

Despite the weird weather the North West is experiencing the last couple of days (rain one minute then sun the next? Just decide!) I did want to share with you my favourite outfit from this week.

This top is super cute, the leather sleeves and collar give it a bit of an edge (I'm loving the punky grungy influences in the upcoming seasons trends) and the wine colour makes it a little bit brighter. I have a longer body and short legs so finding tops which come to a nice length on me is really difficult but I really like the length on this and how it goes slightly longer at the back.

I just put this on with my gap skinny jeans and my favourite DM shoes! Comfy, girly grunge! Teamed with a smudgy eye and a sheer colour on the lip, I think this is my favourite look for the current weather.

Top - Primark £10
Jeans - Gap £30
Shoes - Dr Martens £85

OOTD | Nautical Frills and Spills

I love this dress. This is officially the biggest bargain ever! The Liverpool branch of Republic was having a closing down sale so I picked this pretty baby up for £5. I was so excited I bought it in blue too. It's quite thick so it'll do me right through Autumn.

I love this slightly smocky shape too, it's super flattering on my bottom-heavy shape and makes me feel like I should be skipping around like a fairy. (I'm normal I swear.)

My brother thinks my frilly ankle socks make me look like an overgrown child but I could not care less! I think they're so pretty over my tough studded boots.

Dress - Republic £5
Frilly ankle socks - Primark £1.50
Studded chelsea boots - Boohoo £15

Summer 2013 Lookbook

Ooooh how lovely is this sun! It honestly gives me a teeny bit of hope that I may actually tan this summer. Anyhoo I just wanted to show you guys what I've been loving/will be wearing in this gorgeous weather so I've put together a little lookbook. This is a mixture of older pieces and things I've picked up over the last couple of weeks (mostly from Primark, I'm loving their Summer stuff this year!). Hope you like!

Colour Clash Maxi

I am totally in love with these maxis, I have a black one from last year (from a boutique I can't remember the name of) and found them so comfy and easy to wear. I also bought this in a coral colour, they look great in the summer with sandals or in the Autumn with a leather jacket and converse. I know I've always said I HATED the neon trend but this Summer seems to have converted me, but accessories only. I still can't seem to break my non-neon mental barrier.

Cornflower Maxi - Primark £8
Jelly Shoes - Primark £4
Neon Satchel - Primark £9

Pretty in Mint

I think mints just one of those colours everybody can work. It instantly adds a hint of girly to anything and this Summer I can't get enough of it! This dress is super flattering and makes me feel gorgeous because even though it is short it stops at a flattering place on my bigger thighs and nips in at the waist. Plus the floaty fabric skims my tum and hips to create the optical illusion of less me. Flatforms are my new thing! They are the revolution I have been waiting for! I hate wearing just flats, I'm more of a sandals or boots girl (weather depending) and the odd pair of ballet flats I wear are for jeans only. I feel like I need something to elongate my little legs a bit more without the unbearable foot pain. In come these babies! SO glad I let my mum talk me into getting these.

Chiffon Dress - Primark £17
Flatforms - Topshop £42

Aztec Blur

I think this dress is my find of the season. I love the colours and the looser fit. The fabric also feels really nice for how little I paid for it and I love how versatile it is. BIG THUMBS UP. This necklace called to me, I could hear it whispering 'Emma...buy me...I'm so pretty' so it's not my fault. Blame the necklace. For Primark £10 is very pricey for a piece of jewellery but I do think it looks a lot more expensive than it was and it just adds something to the outfit.

Printed Dress - Primark £13
Navy Ankle Socks - Primark £1.50
Flatforms - Topshop £42
Statement Necklace - Primark Limited Edition £10

Alright in White

I've had this dress for a couple of months, I actually took it travelling with me and wore it to death. Really flattering over my rounder parts and I'm not really a fan of getting my cleavage out so the high neck is perfecto. This necklace was a birthday present from an auntie aaaaages ago but every summer it pops back out to play. The colours are just so pretty and sparkly I always find an outfit to put it with. These wedges were from Matalan last Summer but are so comfy and don't hurt my feet nearly as much as most heels do. I can't remember the price but I have a feeling it was around the £15 mark? I know it was silly cheap and they do look and feel a lot more expensive than they are. I will continue to wear these until they literally disintegrate.

White Skater Dress - Primark £13
Tan Wedges - Matalan
Statement Necklace - Oasis

Yes I am a dress girl in the Summer, I don't really wear shorts other than over my bikinis (and I don't want to terrify you all with a picture of that now do I). Hope you liked my little photoshoot!

What are your favourite looks this summer?

Yet Another Primark Haul

Oopsie daisy. Primark has reeled me in yet again! All I wanted was a hoody and I came back with a TON of europe goodies. Let's get started then...

First I picked up these 2 lovely floaty vest tops with a sheer panel at the hem for £4 each. I love the bright colours! They are a little sheer but I have a couple of bandeaus to wear underneath.

Then I picked up this pretty sheer shirt with a denim collar and cute polka dots for £7, so cute to wear with shorts!

I had a bit of a blue polka dot theme and got this gorgeous silky loose vest with a longer hem at the back. I thought this would be really loose and light in the sun. This was also a bargain £4!

Aaaand lastly the one thing I wanted, a hoody! I needed something that I could throw on over any of my outfits I've crammed into my backpack. I picked this pretty mint colour because its so bang on trend and perfect for summer! This was a mere £8 and I decided to get a size bigger just to make it extra snuggly.

Hope you enjoyed my little wardrobe insight! (And a glimpse at my  pretty wallpaper)

April's Fashion Favourites

Hello gorgeous people!! I know I'm a teeeeny bit late and we are now in May but I wanted to share with you a few pieces I have been loving and wearing to death over April...

Firstly is this gorgeous handmade collar by Purlesque, a tiny weeny shop on the first floor in the Liverpool branch of Pop Boutique. I actually haven't worn it yet but I can't stop looking at it! It cost around £12 and the lovely ladies in there hand make a huuuuge selection of gorgeous quirky jewellery and collars aswell as selling cutie haberdashery bits.

This shirt is officially my bargain of the year so far. I picked this up in Kilo Stop in Preston, where you buy things by the weight. They have a really cool selection of quirky bits and pieces with a mixture of vintage, new and second hand stuff for both women and men so if you are around go in! Plus the gorgeous lady in there is an absolute angel, so helpful and lovely. This cost me £2.50!! OMG!! I just love the colour and how floaty this is, I have mostly been wearing this over leggings with a white cami underneath or tucked into my disco pants with a bandeau under.

Anyone who follows me on instagram has probably seen my photo of these. Printed joggers are bang on trend, comfy and easy to wear so I picked up 2 pairs in Primark for £12 each. These elephant ones have been my favourite for this month, I've been wearing them turned up with studded boots and a baggy tee for my weird take on Sports Luxe (paired with my trusty red lippie has been my go-to uni look). I also bought a white/grey/teal/pink inky print pair to wear when it gets warmer.

What has been your favourite look this month?

PS Apologies for the selfies, everybody decided they got bored of taking photos for me and I was left in an empty house :(

We Like Short Shorts?

Hello my lovelies! I have missed you! Well after a uni-stress filled few weeks I am officially BACK with a lot of ramblings and fashion/beautyisms for you all. I apologise for starting on a bit of a rant but I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds this a major Summertime problem.

I dont consider myself to be 'fat', in fact I loathe the word but at a size 12 I am a naturally curvy shape. My bottom half definitely takes up most of the 'curvier' side of me but I try my best to dress this well and I am proud of my natural round bottom and chunky thighs. This said, I don't want to walk round with my bum cheeks hanging out thank you very much. Come summer, every high street on the planet seems to stock a ton of gorgeous shorts which I drool over but as soon as I grab them and toddle off to the changing rooms I realise that they barely cover...well anything. Either this or they're pretty much knee-length. I want to be able to get my legs out like the next person but I shouldn't have to get my bum out aswell in my opinion. I have spent hours and hours going round shops and websites trying desperately to get the right fit and length but nowhere seems to cater for us inbetweeney girls! Come on it's not hard!

If its denim, printed, statement, culottes or whatever; I want some wonderful brand to pop up and design me a pair of shorts that makes me FEEL good aswell as LOOK good. So get on it high street!

Does anyone else feel like this is a major issue? Oh how odd my mind works...

Chi Chi Dress Wish List

I'd never heard of this brand before until this competition came up to win £200 worth of Chi Chi clothing through etail PR so I thought I'd have a quick gander. Ooohh prettyyy dressseessss, it makes my inner diva get all giddy! I didn't think my personal style would relate to a brand like this but, honestly, I have fallen in love with far too many things already. It makes me wish I had my school prom all over again just so I have an excuse to buy something. Everything is super girly and pretty, what's not to love?

I picked 3 of my favourite dresses to show a taster of what they have to offer.

As you can see there's a bit of a lace theme but I think they're all so flattering to my body shape (I have a rather large backside, fondly named my 'Nicki Minaj') and I already own a couple of peplum shaped tops/dresses so I know how body confident they make me feel. APOLOGIES FOR THE MONOCHROME! I just can't help myself...I think I should just admit that I have a problem. Rehab for wearing too much black anyone?

You can check out their website here.

Thanks for reading lovelies!

Spring/Summer Wishlist

I have decided to try and create a wishlist at the beginning of each season, but I've been struggling to find anything really exciting these last few weeks on the high street. I keep clicking through the websites without anything catching my eye so here's just a few bits and pieces to get you in the Springtime mood.

1. Topshop Sleeveless Embellished Swing Dress - £85
2. Asos Minkpink Dip Dye Shirtdress - £65
3. Topshop Longsleeve Panel Shirt - £38
4. Barry M Nail Paint in 'Nude' - £2.99
5. River Island Superskinny White Jeans - £35
6. Topshop Oversized Floral Shirt - £38
7. River Island Collarless Blazer - £45
8. Boohoo Blue Crochet Flippy Shorts - £15
9. ASOS Oversized 70's Sunnies - £10
10. Topshop Black Longline Bikini - £30
11. Topshop Light Vintage Jamie Jeans - £40

So I seem to have a lot of white in here, but white is going to be a massive colour this season so I suppose it seems right to stock up? Hopefully I will be able to add a few bits and pieces into my wishlist as the season goes on, fingers crossed the high street stocks up on some beauties before my holidays!!

Let me know what your thoughts on the current offerings for this season!

Primark Haul

Primark is everyones haven, we all know it and most of us don't like to admit it. However, I did pop in the other day and found a rather huge new beauty stand has been put in my local store. Of course this made me all excited and I picked up a few bits and bobs.

First I picked up these cute little nail wraps, my friend uses them all the time and says they're alright and in my experience, nail wraps don't tend to last long anyway so spending any big amount of money on them is just silly. I like using nail wraps for nights out and things because I'm no nail art expert and sometimes its just nice to have something a bit different isn't it?

Keeping with the nail theme I seem to have made a rather exciting find. Textural nail effects are still going strong in the beauty world and Ciate brought out their Caviar manicure set a while ago but with a rather hefty price tag. I have seen a few of the bottles of pearls around, I know MUA does some lovely shades but most of them don't come with a nail varnish to match. So when I found this for a mere £2.50, I thought I'd give it a go. If I don't like it then at least I haven't forked out a ton of non-existant money. They had 2 shades in my store, this one and a white/silvery colour set.

I also picked up some lashes for my night out, I often lose or destroy lashes and I used to buy the Eylure ones but I found that I was spending however much on lashes that would only last 1 or 2 wears. I do have a habit of keeping the glue though so picking up a couple of cheapy lashes but using the nicer glue suits me fine. Shockingly I really liked the 'natural' ones and will be repurchasing ASAP! I found the fuller ones to be too big for my eyes.

Lastly I picked up a sheer sleeveless shirt with a cute white collar to put on over a bandeau and tuck into my discos. I have loads of shirts like these but a lot of the buttons have popped off so I picked this one up for £5.

My outfit and make up for the night....rather vampish I think. And yes, I know, I'm wearing all black AGAIN but I couldn't help myself!

London Fashion Week

Yes its that time of the year again lovelies...London Fashion Week has taken over the Interweb and Blogisphere for the forseeable future. Unfortunately I didn't get to attend and instead have had to revert to obsessively Googling for every scrap of information.

I don't hide my worrying obsession with fashion but for those who actually have lives I thought I'd just put a few bits and bobs up for your enjoyment. Kind of my version of highlights and maybe even a few bitchy moments if the urge takes me...

I think first we just need to take this moment to celebrate the pure bonkers genuis of the fantastic Louise Gray. What other designer could get away with putting bin bags on model's heads and using toilet roll as accessories? She really puts the fun back in fashion, something I've been intensly missing. Looking through the collection made me giggle and noone has done that for me in a while. Take away all the madness though and the collection itself is stunning. Fantastic brights, interesting patterns and a lovely mix of texture. So. In. Love. This collection has made me excited for A/W 13. Please check her out, she did a collection for Topshop a while back so some of you may have heard the name already but if not, I hope you fall in love with this collection as much as I have.

One collection I was more intrigued about than actually looking forward to is Meadham Kirchoff. He is a rather strange designer and I don't exactly 'like' his designs but I find them absolutely fascinating and often very inspiring to my own work. This collection didn't disappoint with his usual layered, girlish fantasy aesthetic with obvious cultural influences. One look stood out from the rest and I thought it deserved a mention.

Leather jacket, floaty peach and collared combo...what's not to love?

Henry Holland is one of my all-time faves, his fun and happy style just brings a smile to my face every time. I love his H! by Holland collection for Debenhams too (in fact I love any designer that does a good high street collection that's true to their actual aesthetic for all us plebs who could never afford designer pieces in our wildest dreams)! His A/W 13 collection exceeded all my expectations and I've been happily flicking through all the photos many many times and getting all giddy. I love his mix of colour, texture and pattern and this collection has all 3 in abundance. Loud 70's patterns mixed with texture and his signature slogan jumpers has injected a large dose of sunshine into LFW. Plus he's just so damn cute!

Did someone say Pucci?
Spacey textures ooooo goody!

Please check out the rest of the collection, honestly it will make your day.

Finally we come down to the nitty gritty. I am a NORTHERN fashion student and damn proud of it. My university excels in fashion and has produced a number of noteworthy professionals within the industry and has beaten the London colleges for awards etc on many occasion, yet still we don't get the credit we deserve just because of out location. Honestly? Yes, Central Saint Martins has produced some incredible designers but this years MA collection actually made me cringe a little. (Please don't shoot me.) If it was fantastic I'd tell you it's fantastic but it really wasn't. It didn't do anything for me in any way possible, despite the unis reputation and the great reviews its had. Please tell me your thoughts and, if you do like it, try and persuade me because I'd really love to learn what all the fuss is about.

I think this post will spill into a second, I'm just getting far too excited so keep your eye out for part 2!

Spring Trends

Spring is my favourite time of the year for fashion, colour starts to creep in and all the floaty creations of sunshine remind us that there is hope for British weather...one day anyway. I wanted to just do a little post on my favey trends and how I plan to incorporate them into my mish mashy wardrobe.

Monochrome:

I know guys, the blog is named WEAR MORE COLOUR but this one is sooooo easy to do and looks great on anyone! Everyone from Marc Jacobs to Michael Kors has been getting in on the monochrome action and theres tons of gorgeousness on the high street to have a peek at.

I have totally fallen in love with this simple half and half spot tee from Topshop, so easy to dress up or down...the possibilities are endlesssss. (Or at least thats what I plan on telling myself when £32 disappears from my bank account.)

Also from Topshop are these cute square print trousers if you're feeling a little more adventurous. Again, easy to dress for day or night and its nice to have a change from the leggings-and-skinny-jeans rut I seem to have got myself into. At £35 they won't break the bank and can be worn right the way through the Summer if the Great British weather lives up to all of our bleak expectations.

The Swinging 60s:

I'm awarding Louis Vuitton with the triumph of bringing this trend in for us to enjoy. I absolutely loooove this collection, if you haven't seen it I recommend you do. Now. Click the link. Now. This seriously makes me happy.

Any shift dress that takes your eye will complete this easy look, everyone looks different in a shift dress so you need to find the one for YOU. For me, I don't really like my thighs so if I wear one that's too short I feel like I'm stomping round like a gigantic jelly. On the other hand, if it's too long it makes me look a little short and I don't suit a sleeve on them. So its about shopping round and finding one you're comfortable with because once you've found it, its here to stay!

Nouvelle Japanisme:

Firstly the name of this trend just sounds so pretty right? So many designers took this in all different directions, there are just so many avenues to go down. From the decorative at Pucci to the crisp Japanese-inspired kimono silhouettes at Etro, everyone is taking a look at the stunning Far East this season.

It wont take a lot to incorporate this into your Spring wardrobe, just one or 2 statement pieces to put a new twist on old outfits should do the trick.

This printed kimono jacket from Zara is beautiful to jazz up a casual outfit or even add a new twist on an old favourite dress? There are quite a few from Zara at the moment that have caught my eye, they have definitely embraced the Japanese kimono look with open arms!
Is it just me or is this model a bit terrifying?
If you aren't really feeling any of these trends and aren't as excited to chuck out my Winter wardobe as I am, just wear anything white and you'll be bang on trend! Suits everyone and we all have something pretty and white we love to throw on in this season so dig it out and dust it off to try and get in the Springy mood!
